The importance of nicotinamide riboside’s (NR) role in the human NAD metabolome was initially discovered in 2004. Scientists have since identified many important properties regarding NR, including that its activation of protective sirtuin enzymes, protection (in mice) from weight gain caused by overnutrition, as well as protection from noise induced hearing loss, and its protection in humans against both diabetic neuropathy and chemotherapeutic neuropathy. NR has also since passed the FDA approval process for dietary supplements and is considered a safe compound; no serious adverse events resulting from NR use have been reported since its introduction into the market. More information about NR, including the latest research regarding the compound, can be found at www.aboutnr.com.
