New Fetal Monitoring Device Improving Remote Access to Care

A new FDA regulated device from Nuvo Group is being utilized to monitor pregnant women and their babies, according to a report from Reuters. Nuvo Group’s product, to be launched as Ritmo Beats at the end of 2015, utilizes an algorithm that monitors and detects the mother’s and the fetus’s heartbeat without ultrasound equipment. The monitor itself is an elastic harness with sensors woven into the straps of the harness, in addition to being equipped with bluetooth capable of transferring data to both mothers and their physician via the cloud. Nuvo Group anticipates that remote fetal monitoring accessible to doctors will improve managed care throughout a woman’s pregnancy.
