New Device Improves Quality of Life for Glaucoma Patients

According to CBS News, a new implantable eye stent in is paving the way for the future of glaucoma treatment. The iStent, considered the smallest implantable device to receive FDA approval, helps relieve eye pressure and eliminates the need for eye drops. It is only one millimeter long, cannot be felt by the patient once implanted, and can only be seen with a special microscope. The implant can be done in conjunction with cataract surgery, and recovery time is minimal.
