New Antibiotic Kills Drug-Resistant Bugs

According to Reuters, researchers have discovered a new antibiotic called teixobactin, which they found to kill severe infections in mice without experiencing any resistance. The antibiotic belongs to a new class of compounds which kills bacteria by breaking down cell walls. While the prospect sounds promising, human testing is not expected to start for another two years.
