Mumps Outbreak Extends Beyond Ohio State University

CNN News reports that the mumps outbreak of The Ohio State University has spread beyond campus into Columbus and Franklin County. “As of Monday, 63 cases of mumps were reported in Franklin County, Ohio, according to Columbus Public Health. Forty-five of those are linked to the university outbreak.” According to health officials, 97% of the affected people actually received the mumps vaccine, which is only 80-90% effective. “Columbus Public Health is urging those at high risk — including those who have not been vaccinated or those who only received one dose — to get vaccinated.”
