Pharma industry powerhouse Sanofi is seeking approval for over-the-counter sales of Eli Lilly‘s Cialis, a drug intended to treat erectile dysfunction, an article in Bloomberg News reports. Cialis, currently a drug that requires a prescription, has generated over $14 billion in sales, including $2.16 billion in 2013. Sanofi will be competing with other E.D. treatments, the most popular of which is Pfizer’s Viagra. Joining the competition in the E.D. market will be Teva Pharmaceuticals, which will likely release a generic alternative in December of 2017.
