Low-Carb Diet Deemed More Effective for Weight Loss, Heart Health

According to a Reuters article, a low-carbohydrate diet is more effective for both weight loss and reducing the risk of heart disease compared to the traditional low-fat diet. In a study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, participants assigned to the low-carb diet were told to consume 40g or less of net carbohydrates per day, while those in the low-fat group were advised to keep their daily calories from fat to under 30 percent of the total. At the conclusion of the 12-month study, those in the low-carb group lost more body fat and weight than those on the low-fat diet.
