Is Veganism the Key to a Healthy Heart?

After discovering that his LDL levels were unhealthily high, Dr. Kim A. Williams, president of the American College of Cardiology, chose veganism to combat his cholesterol, says an article published in The New York Times’ Well Blog. Many people, including Dr. Williams have tried improving heart health through low-fat diets rather than low cholesterol diets, failing to acknowledge the dangers of rising LDL cholesterol. For patients struggling with high LDL blood levels, vegetarian or vegan diets may be the key to maintaining a healthy heart, and have been shown to lead to longer lifespans, too.
