According to CBS News, new research published in the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization has found that contrary to popular belief, more bedroom action is not the path to more happiness. More than 100 couples were randomly asked to either double the amount of sex they were having or to keep on with their usual habits. The couples’ happiness was tracked over three months via online questionnaires. Interestingly, those who had more sex experienced a slight decrease in happiness, possibly because sex for a research study did not spark desire and, therefore, they did not enjoy it as much. One researcher suggests that instead of concentrating on increasing sexual frequency to the levels experienced at the beginning of a relationship, couples should try to create an environment that sparks sexual desire and makes the sex they are having even more fun and enjoyable.
