Is Cheap Food Responsible for High Obesity Rates?

In the world of McDonald’s, KFC, and other popular fast food chains, cheap food is the primary cause of obesity, according to an article published by CBS News. While there are a number of other factors contributing to the poor health and high obesity rates of Americans, “Americans are spending a much smaller share of their income on food now than they were a few decades ago, and also less than any other society in the world.” Data from the American Journal of Preventive Medicine shows that obesity rates in the U.S. could be as high as 42 percent by 2030, greatly increasing the risk for cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.
