Forget the Cloud. Store Your Data in DNA.

Researchers at Harvard and Johns Hopkins have found a way to encode an unprecedented amount of digital information in DNA, and retrieve it using next-generation sequencing techniques.  They stored the equivalent of about 200 pages of text, including digital images and even computer code, in strands of nucleotides. By encoding multiple copies of each nucleotide strand, they ensured that potential errors caused by mutations could be caught and corrected.
