For Type 2 Diabetics, Less is More When it Comes to Meals

Many doctors suggest that people should eat 6 to 8 small meals in a day, but new research from Diabetologia suggests that for individuals with type 2 diabetes, two large meals is more effective for weight loss. An article in the New York Times’ Well Blog reports that the type 2 diabetes patients who ate two larger meals, showed “improved fasting glucose levels, lower liver fat content and better insulin sensitivity.” The study concludes that patients with type 2 diabetes will achieve optimal weight loss with a large breakfast and lunch, and a small dinner.
