For Better Sleep, Try Intense Exercise Before Bed

Contrary to popular belief, exercise before bed can result in better sleep, an article published by Reuters says. According to a new study published in Sleep Medicine, young adults who exercised vigorously prior to bed actually slept better than peers who exercised at a lower intensity at the same time of night. The study measured the levels of exertion in the subjects, as well as how quickly the participants fell asleep, how many times they woke up throughout the night, and how deeply they slept. For those who engaged in more vigorous exercise, the data showed that subjects fell asleep faster, woke up fewer times during sleep, and slept more deeply than their counterparts.
