FDA Recommends Cap on Acetaminophen Dosage

Reuters reports that, on Tuesday, the FDA recommended for doctors to stop prescribing combination therapies containing more than 325 milligrams of acetaminophen. Officials cite the potential for liver damage as the reason behind this restriction. “It cited the fact that no available data showed that taking more than the recommended dose provided benefits that outweighed the added risks.” The FDA also mentioned that they are considering withdrawing approval completely for combination therapies on the market.
