F.D.A. Orders Destruction of Popular Sports Supplement

An article in The New York Times reports that USPlabs has destroyed all inventory of their popular sports supplements, Jack3d and Oxyelite, under pressure from the F.D.A. The F.D.A ordered destruction of the products due to the presence of dimethylamylamine (DMAA), a chemical shown to elevate blood pressure and possibly cause heart attacks. The F.D.A. issued an order to halt production in April, but the company continued to distribute their remaining inventory. The current order called for immediate destruction of the company’s remaining $8 million in inventory.
