Exercise May Decrease Risk of Breast Cancer in All Women

NPR’s Shots blog reports on new research presented at the European Breast Cancer Conference that found that exercise can significantly reduce the risk of breast cancer in all women. In a study of 4 million women over the period from 1987 to 2013, researchers found that “exercise reduces women’s risk of breast cancer, no matter what kind of exercise they do, how old they are, how much they weigh, or when they get started.” Although overweight women benefited less, their risk still decreased by 10% compared to overweight women who didn’t get exercise.
