Excessive Exercise May Lead to Health Risks

An article in CBS News says “moderate physical activity is most protective for the heart.” In a study published in Heart, the highest risk for cardiovascular disease and other cardiovascular problems was seen in patients who exercised less than once a week, and in those that exercised at a moderate or high intensity more than four times per week. Participants in the study who seldom exercised were twice as likely to have a heart attack or stroke, and four times as likely to die from a similar occurrence, but those who exercised more than four times a week also proved to be at greater risk than those exercising 2-4 times weekly.
