Epilepsy: Talking to Patients and Their Families.

Andrew N. Wilner, MD, FACP, FAAN, a Neurohospitalist at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, discusses the importance of spending adequate time to discuss the social implications of epilepsy and tips for the family to help with support of the patient.

Sample tips include taking care when crossing streets, avoiding driving if epilepsy not well controlled, avoiding operating machinery and power tools, taking supervised baths, and cooking with a microwave to avoid using the front burners on the stove.
