Does Your Toothpaste Contain Carcinogens?

According to an article published by Bloomberg News, millions of Americans may unknowingly be using toothpaste that contains carcinogens. Colgate Total, a popular toothpaste across the country, contains the chemical triclosan, which has been linked to cancer cell growth and bone deformities in mice and rats. The paste received FDA over-the-counter approval in 1997, and the company assures that the product is still safe. Effects of the chemical on humans are still relatively unknown, though many consumer companies have already removed it from their products, and the state of Minnesota even went so far as to ban it in many products this May.
