Do Artificial Sweeteners Cause Diabetes?

According to an article published by CBS News, the use of artificial sweeteners may come at a cost. A study published in Nature showed that artificial sweeteners change the composition of healthy bacteria in the stomach, which can result in higher blood sugar levels, glucose intolerance, and eventually, diabetes. The study looked at the results of the blood sugar levels in mice, noting that mice that were given artificial sweeteners showed considerably higher blood sugar levels.
