Cheers! Moderate Drinking Could Reduce Risk of Heart Attack

According to recent studies published in Circulation, low and moderate alcohol consumption could reduce risk of heart attack or abdominal aortic aneurysm. According to the CDC, over 28 thousand Americans are affected by AAA. The first study covered 52 countries and found a 13% lower risk of heart attack in low-to-moderate drinkers, though the statistic could be a result of differing lifestyles, says lead author Dr. Darryl Leong. The second study covered 70 thousand Swedes over age 45, and found that AAA risk decreased by 20% in men and 44% in women who consumed 4-6 glasses of alcohol per week.
