CDC Reports Flu Is Hitting Hard in Younger Population

The flu is hitting young people harder this year than in previous year, CNN News reports. According to the CDC, “People between the ages of 18 and 64 represent 61% of all influenza-related hospitalizations recorded during the current flu season — a significant increase compared with previous years when this age group represented about 35% of cases.” Additionally, people between 18 and 64 accounted for more than 1/2 of all flu-related deaths this year, as compared to less than a quarter last year. Experts say the best way to protect yourself and others is not only to get the flu vaccine but also to wash your hands and staying home when you’re sick.
