Bariatric Surgery Proves Effective In Uterine Cancer Prevention

Multiple studies have shown a strong connection between obesity and multiple types of cancer and now a new study has shown that weight loss surgery, or bariatric surgery, may help prevent uterine cancerFox News reports. The finding is based on a study in Gynecologic Oncology that analyzed data from 7,431,858 patients of which “103,797 people had undergone bariatric surgery and 44,345 had developed uterine cancer.” Researchers found that the women who underwent bariatric surgery were 71% less likely to develop uterine cancer than the obese women who did not undergo the surgery. The research suggests promising implications for bariatric surgery for overweight patients.
