Alaska Bars Now Include Free Pregnancy Tests

In an effort to improve public health and prevent fetal alcohol syndrome, researchers from the University of Alaska Anchorage are now installing free pregnancy test dispensers in a number of Alaskan bars, an article from CNN Health reports. Alaska, which has the highest reported rate of fetal alcohol syndrome in the country, will undergo a two-year, $400,000 program, during which time researchers at the university will be monitoring results. The study hopes to create awareness, and ultimately, to encourage women to stop drinking that night, in the event that they are pregnant.
