15,000 Who Enroll Are Left Without Coverage

The Washington Post reports that nearly 15,000 HealthCare.gov shoppers who clicked “enroll” were not actually enrolled in plans, according to a federal estimate released this weekend. The number came from a “recently completed federal analysis that compared the number of shoppers who clicked “enroll” with the number of digital files HealthCare.gov fired off to health-insurance plans.” Unfortunately, the government does not have the names of these people who did not receive their coverage. The report states that “during the first two weeks of October nearly 10 percent of enrollments were missing an 834 transmission” and that this number rose to 15 percent in late October before steadily decreasing to less than 1 percent in December.
